Greek Foreign Minister Pays Visit to Macedonia
Greek Foreign Affairs Minister, Nikos Kotzias is paying a visit to Macedonia on Wednesday.
Kotzias is expected to discuss the set of confidence building measures with Macedonian Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki, and he will also have meetings with Macedonian leadership and political leaders.
Details about the measures have not been revealed yet, however they are not expected to include moves on resolving the name issue with Greece has soured relations between the countries for decades and has halted Macedonia's integration to the European Union and NATO.
Instead, the measures are supposed to initiate cooperation in various other areas, and improve relations between the countries. The visit comes at a time when there is a renewed push from the European Union to move Macedonian integration forward, with a list of reform recommendations prepared by the European Commission delivered last week.
Kotzias will also meet with Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and Deputy Prime Minister Fatmir Besimi.
