Greece Releases Rare Footage of German Nazi Invasion

he release of the vintage clips, from the archive of the Greek War Museum, comes as Athens demands US$302 billion in war reparations. The Greek Ministry of Defense has published a video containing rare footage of the Nazi occupation of Greece during World War II.

The release of the vintage clips, from the archive of the Greek War Museum, comes as Athens demands US$302 billion in war reparations, from the enforced loan the invaders imposed, and as compensation for the some 800,000 civilians deaths.

According to translations by Keep Taking Greece, the video claims that,  “Greece lost 13% of its population during the WWII. One part was lost in the battlefield, but the largest part due to famine and the Nazis’ atrocities.”

The footage shows emaciated men, women and children, streets reduced to rubble, and conveys of Nazi motorbikes and tanks.


“The agreement of 14 March 1942 foresaw that Greece paid to its occupiers 1.5 billion drachmas per month, a total of US$3.5 billion, according to the Dollar value of 1938. The current value of the enforced loan is 54 billion euro without the interest,” the video’s voice over says, explaining that this loan was to blame for the starvation of some 300,000 Greeks in the capital city alone.

Last week, Germany’s economy minister called Greece’s demand for reparations “stupid,” even though Greek Defense Minister Panos Kammenos said his government had obtained “stunning evidence” to support its claim.

Wenn man das umlegt auf die Gesamtsumme, wären das rein rechnerisch 1.190 Euro Schulden pro Stromkunde, aber bei 1,8 von 2,5 Milliarden Schulden durch gewerbliche Kunden dürften die Privatkunden natürlich deutlich kleinere Summen offen haben. FMW-Redatkion Die Sozialkassen in Griechenland schaffen derzeit eine Art parallele Staatsverschuldung. Da die annehmen, dass ihre Löcher aus den jetzt fließenden 86 Milliarden Euro vom 3. Hilfspaket nicht gestopft werden, haben sie angefangen in Eigenregie Kredite aufzunehmen. Da sie Rentenfonds, Krankenkassen etc staatliche Einrichtungen sind, erhöht sich damit per Saldo die Staatsschuldenlast Griechenlands noch weiter, auch wenn der Staat Griechenland kaum darum bemüht sein dürfte diese Extra-Schulden in seine eigenen Schulden einzurechnen. Aber Schulden sind Schulden. Wie die angesehene griechische Zeitung „Ekathimerini“ berichtet, hat das „Social Insurance Institute“ im August ein kurzfristiges Darlehen (wird wohl eine Dauerumschuldung) über 110 Mio Euro aufgenommen. 70 Mio davon gab man an seinen öffentlichen Versicherungsfonds weiter, 40 Mio davon an seinen kommunalen Versicherungsfonds. The movie, entitled The People’s Revolution Upon the Ministers' Wives, has been produced by Sirina (Siren) Productions and can be included in the genre of “politicised or austerity porn”. “2012.
