Assistant MEP of Golden Dawn Threatens MIA Reporter

Konstantinos Boviatsos, assistant to the MEP of the Greek neo-fascist Golden Dawn, George Epitideios, today at the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European legislature, sent threats to MIA’s correspondent reported from Brussels.

Before the session where six foreign ministers of the countries of the Western Balkans, including the head of Macedonian diplomacy Nikola Poposki speak, Boviatsos brazenly told reporters- correspondents from the countries of the region, including MIA's, that they should not and are not allowed to use the name Macedonia for the Republic of Macedonia, but only FYROM.

On the remarks from Augustin Palokaj, correspondent to the Croatian "Jutarnji List", then Slavko Vukadin correspondent for the Croatian informational News Agency (HINA) and Boban Nonkovic from MIA, that constitutionally and officially the name of the country is Republic of Macedonia, and that it is our right how we would call our country, Boviatsos replied with threats:

"You will soon see what will be the name of the country! Only FYROM and no other, otherwise there will be problems".

But, the assistant to the general-MEP of Greek neo-fascist party did not stop there. After this, he directly addressed MIA’s correspondent from Brussels, saying: "You will see once we get out of the building of the European Parliament!"

MIA reporter acted promptly to the competent authorities of the European Parliament for such threats, and they promised to take measures for such misconduct of the Greek.

Otherwise, Konstantinos Bovijacos is one of the founders of neo-fascist Golden Dawn and its representative on Foreign Relations. He is mostly famous that earlier this year he signed a cooperation agreement on "the golden dawn supporters" with Golden Dawn, when Golden Dawn for Europe was established and whose main representative is Boviatsos.

Threats to Macedonian journalists by Greek representatives in the European Parliament are not a novelty. In September 2011, former German MEP of Greek origin, Jorgo Chatzimarkakis, during a debate on freedom of the media expelled three Macedonian journalists, insulted and threatened one of them. On this show preformed by him, the EP services did not react and he did not get suspended.
