Macedonian Government Condemns Language Used by Greek Soldiers

The Government of the Republic of Macedonia in a statement on Sunday has strongly condemns the violent and threatening vocabulary used by the Greek soldiers which is typical for some previous times.

As the statement reads, the Government has been taking all the diplomatic measures to condemn this and similar incidents in the Republic of Greece which do not contribute to promote  good neighborly relations and the spirit of cooperation.

"The fact that similar indecent and uncivilized events have been occurring for years in the Republic of Greece raises concern and the public has no memory of the authorities issuing an official apology. Perhaps they have noting against when Macedonians, Albanians or Turks are spending their money there as tourists while apart from that they chant about 'sucking their blood'", reads the Government's statement.

At the same time, it is stressed, the EU keeps silent and tolerates such rhetoric although it shouldn’t.

"We have been witnessing exaggerated reactions about incidents in our country. However, when it comes to such a vocabulary and events in Greece which promote violent nationalism there is a regular silence.

For the benefit of the European idea and the values it promotes, it is important for such practices and brutal expressions of most radical nationalism within state structures to be fiercely condemned", concludes the Government in its statement.
