KATHIMERINI: MERKEL URGED GREECE AND MACEDONIA TO SOLVE THE DISPUTE

The dispute between Greece and Macedonia on the name is a "burden" for Europe, Greek newspaper "Kathimerini" wrote about the Statement of Merkel in Dubrovnik, adding that the German Chancellor urged to find a solution even if both sides are disappointed.

- We can find a way to solve this problem. I have spent time on this issue and possible names and combinations, but sometimes I think there's nothing else that can be can suggested - "Kathimerini" transmitted Merkel's statement at the annual meeting of the "Brdo-Brioni process", between the leaders of the Southeast Europe.

- In Germany we say that compromise is achieved when each side is equally unhappy - Merkel said in Dubrovnik, adding that the solution to the dispute will allow Macedonia to advance in its efforts to join the European Union and NATO.

"Greek diplomats were concerned that recent attempts of Macedonia to join NATO will again be raised at the next summit of the Alliance in the Welsh city of Cardiff in September, but Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said the alliance's expansion will not be on the agenda" - "Kathimerini".



Gruevski not Surprised by Merkel’s Statements on Greece-Macedonia Issue
PM Nikola Gruevski is not surprised by German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s statement in Dubrovnik that “the unsolved name and identity issue between Macedonia and Greece is a burden for everyone.” According to him, Merkel’s decision to mention the word “identity” should not be considered as something new for those who are experts in the dispute. Gruevski says it is clear to both him and those who have followed the issue for a long time that Greece has basically contested Macedonia’s identity since the start. He underlines that he has said on many occasions that VMRO-DPMNE will not enter any initiatives and ideas that will contest or call into question the identity of the Macedonian people, language and nation.

Wenn man das umlegt auf die Gesamtsumme, wären das rein rechnerisch 1.190 Euro Schulden pro Stromkunde, aber bei 1,8 von 2,5 Milliarden Schulden durch gewerbliche Kunden dürften die Privatkunden natürlich deutlich kleinere Summen offen haben. FMW-Redatkion Die Sozialkassen in Griechenland schaffen derzeit eine Art parallele Staatsverschuldung. Da die annehmen, dass ihre Löcher aus den jetzt fließenden 86 Milliarden Euro vom 3. Hilfspaket nicht gestopft werden, haben sie angefangen in Eigenregie Kredite aufzunehmen. Da sie Rentenfonds, Krankenkassen etc staatliche Einrichtungen sind, erhöht sich damit per Saldo die Staatsschuldenlast Griechenlands noch weiter, auch wenn der Staat Griechenland kaum darum bemüht sein dürfte diese Extra-Schulden in seine eigenen Schulden einzurechnen. Aber Schulden sind Schulden. Wie die angesehene griechische Zeitung „Ekathimerini“ berichtet, hat das „Social Insurance Institute“ im August ein kurzfristiges Darlehen (wird wohl eine Dauerumschuldung) über 110 Mio Euro aufgenommen. 70 Mio davon gab man an seinen öffentlichen Versicherungsfonds weiter, 40 Mio davon an seinen kommunalen Versicherungsfonds.
