“Rizopulos”: The game of the name of Skopje is “lost”

It’s a timeless question that has long occupied and the Greek government failed to deal it effectively, Greek political scientist T. C. Zacharia writes in a column in the online edition of “Rizopulos”.

“While the Greeks were affected when they heard that someone called Skopje ‘Macedonia’, FYROM managed by well-organized propaganda to achieve the international community to address the country “Macedonia”,” said in a commentary.

Zacharia in this context honestly pointed out several situations that happened recently regarding the name “Macedonia” and called them “disappointing facts”.

“These incidents confirmed my view that the issue of the name of Skopje is lost. Government in Skopje carries out efficient and well- organized propaganda not only to the people, but also to the global community. By using sites with domain mk. FYROM indirectly managed to get the desired name ‘Macedonia’. The Greek government remains inactive, the Greek nation is divided between those who live in the north and are affected when they hear that a neighboring country is called Macedonia, and Greeks in the south, the majority of which are indifferent”, “Rizopulos” writes.

According to the Greek political scientist, any individual or individual efforts can not produce expected results. “To be honest, I do not know if any effort, whether individual or even organized, can change the outcome”, she admits and once again accused the Greek government of inefficiency on this issue.
