Experts say the SDSM position for the name is Greek proposal
For SDSM is acceptable to change the country name into Upper Macedonia. This attitude yesterday expressed Frchkoski, who was a candidate for President, supported by Crvenkovski.
It is scandalous for a party that aspires to come to power, to give suggestions that are similar to the ideas of Greece. This change of name should change the Constitution of our country, and therefore carries a complete change of identity.
It is expected for our southern neighbor to deliver such requests, but concerning are the views expressed by the main opposition party. Frchkoski yesterday said the key for us is the name Upper Macedonia.
- Not Upper Republic of Macedonia, but key for us is Upper Macedonia; it is a sign of the state. It makes a difference, this, the other is joke. At the identity we must stick to Macedonian language and nation, there is no dilemma. We cannot refuse it, as it does not disturb our identity in any reasonable way, said Frchkoski.
For experts, as neither any other option, nor the option Upper Macedonia is acceptable. The whole concept of identity issues is lost. Well known expert via Kurir sends the message to Frchkoski “If you think that the identity issues end up in footnote, you are fooling your-self.
The Frchkoski view is the SDSM view too, these are Greek rather than Macedonia suggestions
Any name added before Macedonia will cause us great harm, over the nationality and identity. Greece can propose the adjective for them. All those proposals for adjectives are actually Greek proposals. North, Vardar, Upper and so on. That does not suits us and we do not believe that the public will accept whatever is such solution, says Professor Dimitar Mircev in the statement for Kurir.
Other political analysts we tried to contacted showed confusion based on the views of a man who once had ambition to become Head of state. There is no doubt that this is the attitude of SDSM, they say.
The analyst Bocevski remind on all changes of opinion expressed by Frchkoski and SDSM about the name dispute. In the statement for Kurir, he says that views of the opposition are changed more often than the socks.
- First, I do not know about which statement Frchkoski we talk about, whether the one that the “Upper Macedonia” is more acceptable than “Upper Republic of Macedonia”, whether the statement that anyone who negotiate about “Upper Macedonia” is a traitor given a year ago, or the statement that after the U.S.A. recognition of Macedonia we should stop the negotiations as follows the domino recognition from many countries and etc. In the bandstand circle of SDSM’s (“intellectuals”, “analysts”, “journalists” and other celebrities) statements about their position on the name are changed more often than socks, so it is difficult to track which is the latest seasonal statement about their position on name. Anyway the party is still held hostage by one of its extreme wing that believe they would again come to power only in case of foreign intervention and change of the democratically elected government as a result of that intervention. All these messages are messages to some imagined foreign partners that they will deliver even the change of name, if they are allowed to come to power. But what they do not realize is that it is 2013now, not 1990, and those forces are able to perform such operation for changing the democratically elected government in Macedonia certainly no want to use people, money and time in quite useless projects in the Balkans. Otherwise, I would be overjoyed finally to hear the last view of SDSM for the name issue, says Bocevski for Kurir.
The Frchkovski’s statement is narrated view of Greece. So far, we were on several occasions confronted with identical positions between Macedonian opposition and Greek right wing, but the greatest damage is inflicted when their views on changing the name begin to overlap.
It is publicly known that exactly Frchkovski, for whom the proposal Upper Macedonia is a viable solution, was a candidate for president proposed by SDSM. His engagements in SDSM are known in other cases. He was a member of the opposition party working group for the events on 24th of December, and is a current member of the multi-party Commissions, including the Diplomatic Council of SDSM.
Such message from SDSM will be more than welcome to Greece and would be additional incentive for new obstructions to Macedonia on its Euro-Atlantic path, for which the only obstacle is the name dispute.
Frckovski introduces SDSM's stance on 'name dispute'
1. Kiro Gligorov in his autobiography named Frckovski as primary contact (mole) of representatives from Athens who came to Skopje to (successfully) bribe Macedonian politicians (Crvenkovski, Shekerinska, Frckovski). From 1992 to 95, Frckovski via Athens received 1.5 million dollars in cash, golden watches, apartments along the Aegean coast. As Gligorov pointed out, Frckovski put more pressure on him to accept the money than Athens itself.
2. Ljubomir Frckovski can be frequently seen speaking across Yunanistan at Universities publicky supporting Athens stance on the name dispute. His fee is only few thousand euros as he is no longer in position.
3. SDSM frequently introduces their stance on issues via Ljubomir Frckovski. He is Yunanistan's go-to guy.
4. During the past 20 years, SDSM has never deviated from Yunanistan and is publicly supporting their stance on all issues visavi Macedonia
