Athens not liking positive development between EU & Macedonia
Germany and the United States are putting pressure in the United Nations for intensification of the Macedonia name talks, thus bringing the country closer to the EU, say diplomatic sources in Athens.
Analysts say such scenario is not encouraging for Greece, since Berlin and Washington's push towards Skopje's Union accession without the name row settlement would put Greece in a very difficult position.
According to reports, Germany wants to create an economic protectorate on the Balkans, and due to its dependency from Berlin, Athens has no room for resistance.
With regards to the name talks, daily "To Vima" reads "the current balance is delicate and every mistake can bring back pressure on Athens in a time when the government considers that the entire burden over responsibility for the impasse has been transferred to Skopje".
