Macedonia: Greek politicians continue with nationalistic statements
Greece will never accept a name for Skopje, which includes the term Macedonia in it, said former Greek deputy minister of labour Nikos Nikolopoulos, as cited by Macedonian Vecer daily.
Nikolopoulos’ statement came at a meeting organised by the Independent Greeks party in Thessaloniki. The meeting was dedicated to Greece’s national defence and foreign policy.
Former deputy minister’s address started with the words that the meeting was hosted by Thessaloniki, where the heart and mind of Macedonia were beating. He attacked the Greek government, accusing it of missing to conduct any foreign policy and of lacking a national strategy.
According to Nikolopoulos, Thessaloniki is the main city of Macedonia, and called the Greeks, who live in the Northern part of the country, Macedonians.
