Bulgaria, Greece against Macedonia, Turkey in agriculture sector
Bulgaria and Greece should unite against competition in agriculture coming from neighbors Macedonia and Turkey, Bulgarian Minister of Agriculture and Food Miroslav Naydenov has said.
During a visit to a Thessaloniki fair, Naydenov said Macedonia and Turkey are still not EU members, meaning they are not obliged to implement European laws, but have privileges in the agriculture sector that Union farmers do not.
"Greece is our neighbor and we aim towards increased mutual exchange", stressed Naydenov.
He said that besides increasing competition, climate change is also a long-term challenge, taking into consideration the lack of water resources in the region.
