UMD organization urges the UN and the EU to put pressure on Macedonia's neighbors to respect the rights of Macedonians

United Macedonian Diaspora - UMD insists on respecting the rights of Macedonians in neighboring countries. That reads a statement of the organization, Utrinski Vesnik announced.

On the occasion of International Human Rights Day, UMD turned to the UN and the EU - to put pressure on the governments of Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Kosovo and Serbia to ensure compliance with international standards, including the Macedonian communities in their countries.

Implementation of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights in 1948 laid the foundations of many papers in the world. 64 years later, people around the world are still fighting for basic civil rights at that not only in dictatorial countries, and in countries of the EU and member states of NATO, such as Greece, the statement if UMD reads further. Since its formation in 2004, UMD is committed to protecting the human rights of Macedonians. In 2005 we prepared a petition signed by over 100,000 people, which put an end to racial, ethnic and religious discrimination against people with Macedonian descent. UMD is working on this every year, including through recent meetings with government officials in Washington, with meeting the delegation of human rights of people in Aegean Macedonia in Greece, the message of UMD says.

The United Macedonian Diaspora turned to the Macedonians themselves – to continue to work for the proclamation of the truth about Macedonia and the Macedonians to the world political factors.
