Bulgaria & Greece: Suddenly Good Neighbors!

We always celebrate the birth of new friendships. It is particularly nice when you are personally responsible for such friendships.

Just few days ago, the Macedonians had such honor: we helped Bulgaria and Greece become friends.

This Greek-Bulgarian alliance is held together by a single bolt, however the bolt is strong enough to create a coalition: the bolt of course is Macedonia, the Macedonians, and the Macedonian minorities in both countries. Just as in 1913 when under the auspicies of the Great Powers they each took a piece of Macedonia. One got smaller, the other a bigger piece.

100 years later, we are following the same story. This time again it is under the auspices of Europe and their imperial and not european or democratic principles. Except this time, they are calling it "good neighborly relations".

Bulgaria's and Greece's Prime Ministers Borisov and Samaras with their Ministers sat down in Athens and without much thought or debate quickly drafted a conclusion - Macedonia is a bad neighbor, a bad kid and must be disciplined. Meanwhile few dozen Eurocrats inhabitting a small building in Brussels who claim to be repersenting 300 million people let everything slide, because lets face it, they come for the monthly pay and the daily per diem and can't be bothered much about what's happening somewhere in the Balkans.

Good Neighbors
We heard it all. Macedonia is a bad neighbor, always something bothers her, always speaks of injustice, it constantly sues its neighbors in Strasbour and the Hague. They wouldn't admit they are Bulgarians, and wouldn't even let Greece steal the name and the "Macedonia" brand. Of course they have taken Alexander, Goce, Dame, Jane, and now, like this wasn't bad enough are even making films for the Oscars! They Are Making FILMS People, this is Serious, as Borisov stated! It is obvious, the Macedonians are bad neighbors, who are probably missing payments on their HOA fees as well!

On the orher hand, Bulgaria and Greece have been great neighbors, and Macedonia should certainly follow their lead.

The Bulgarian State Television BNT has programs in which its hosts and politicians openly mock and joke about Macedonians (What happens when a Macedonian takes a shower? He is a clean Bulgarian).

Macedonians in Bulgaria have never been allowed to register a political party, while their newspapers and magazine offices are constantly raided by police who then confiscate everything and anything that's printed in Macedonian.

Greek Media, including several members of Parliament (last week) used the term "gypsy-skopianos" to refer to Macedonians. Lets repeat, this is a term used by Greece's members of parliament and media!

According to Brussels, Sofia and Athens, we have been given great examples what it means to be a "good neighbor" .

Now, lets see the situation reversed. Lets insert street terminology in our media and Parliament. Lets call Greeks as people on the street call them "Gypsies" and "Poor Arabs" and lets call the Bulgarians as regular people on the street call them "Tatars". Lets put headlines in our media "What is a Bulgarian doing in a Macedonian museum - Stealing History". Lets change the constitution that everyone in Macedonia who was born and or lives in the land is a Macedonian.

And, lets ask the Bulgarian and Greek Government to put Macedonians as part of their consitution.

The reaction in Athens and Sofia would not just be a revolution, there would be heart attacks all over the place.

One always ponders, how come things are the way they are? Since when the unacceptable became the norm, the normal things became unacceptable? Since when the manipulations became the new high ground while the San Stefano dream - the new justice?

This bizarre new axis of Brussels - Sofia - Athens means new meddling into the ashes of the Balkan Wars, and this has nothing to do with the supposed modern European spirit, in fact, we are all going back to the XIX century.
