Athens wants to negotiate with Macedonians on their payroll

Statement by Greece's Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos that Athens is seeking a "trusted negotiator" is a code for Crvenkovski, Georgievski and Tito Petkovski to encourage them to step forward as the so called "trusted negotiators", say Macedonian political experts elaborating on what the Greek FM meant.

According to political analysts for Vecer, NetPress, Dnevnik and Nova Makedonija, official Athens has never been shy in their desire to see Crvenkovski back in power in order to 'negotiate' a deal previously cooked up in Athens' kitchen.

Former Macedonian Foreign Minister and political analysts for several newspapers Slobodan Chashule summed up Athens' political games for MTV.

"It is a fairly simplistic move by the Greek Government to encourage our opposition to throw their name in the hat as a 'trusted partner' whose main objective is to come up with a compromise not yet publicly declared and the reason why it isn't declared is because it would never pass a referendum. Greece is counting on our internal quarrel, at the same time showing that there are politicians who are willing to find a solution, in other words accept Greece's demands however it can't be done because of the current Government in power. Lets be ironic here for a second...Greece is the angel here, official Athens is so pleasant and has such good intentions, they are willing to choose who will negotiate our name with them... of course we talking about their long term employees Branko Crvenkovski, Tito Petkovski and Ljubco Georgievski." says Chashule.

The former Macedonian FM says Greece's statements that they are the constructive side are not just blatant lies, but are rather ridiculous.

"I am not sure they know the definition of the word 'constructive'. They (Greece) had refused multiple meetings and direct contact with Macedonian Government officials, and now they are looking for 'trusted partners'... it would be the same as us requesting to have Macedonians in Greece represent official Athens in the negotiations" says Chasule.

Former Ambassador Risto Nikovski shares Chashule's opinion.

"Athens is busy with their financial problems. Dimitris' statement for RealNews that Greece has been a constructive side for 20 years is whitewash, and they know it. I don't see any sort of negotiations happening any time soon" says Nikovski.

Meanwhile, Athens has not responded to official requests by the Macedonian Government for a tete-a-tete meetings with Greek officials.
