Macedonia expects Greece also to show good will in solving name row - Vice PM

One party in a dispute cannot bear all of the accountability. Clearly, the Macedonian-Greek name dispute is a bilateral issue with an international dimension. Macedonia has demonstrated good will and we'll keep doing so, however similar manifestation should be expected by the other party involved, Vice Premier Teuta Arifi stated after meeting Thursday with her predecessors in the government.

Answering a journalist question related to the imposed name dispute, Arifi said that Macedonia expected its international friends to reinforce their partnership in "providing a mitigating note to the problem."

The Vice PM anticipates the upcoming European Commission report on Macedonia's progress to be depict the situation in the country in a realistic fashion.

The meeting in the government was attended by former vice premiers for European affairs including Zlatka Popovska, Radmila Sekerinska, Ivica Bocevski and Zoran Krstevski.

Arifi praised the talks adding that the mutual cooperation would resume in the future.

"Aiming to provide as many suggestions as possible to ensure effectiveness related to the issue which is of great importance - EU integration - I held a fruitful meeting with the former vice PMs. We've discussed openly about all issues. I appreciate their suggestions and will take them into account," Arifi stated.

Zlatka Popovska said that the government with that kind of cooperation demonstrated European manners.

"I welcome all initiatives enabling collaboration with respect to EU integration. There is a myriad of issues that need to be revised from all angles. We must be united in this long, continuous process which requires lot of hard work," Popovska said. ba/fd/13:21
