Arifi: Shared responsibility over Macedonian-Greek dispute
Resolution of naming dispute lies in the hands of Macedonia and Greece, Teuta Arifi Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European affairs said.
Commenting on a statement issued this morning by Spokesperson for Greek MFA Gregory Delavekouras saying that resolution of name issue lies in the hands of Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, Arifi said that ‘Skopje has always shown good will in relation to naming dispute, and we expect the same from Greece’.
‘I believe that a dispute can be resolved with the efforts of both sides, not just one. It is clear that this is a bilateral issue. I think that we have shown good will and we expect the same from the other side’, Arifi said.
She also pointed out that she expects a real annual report from the European Commission on Macedonia’s progress, a progress which will reflect the country’s current situation.
Arifi also held talks with former deputy prime ministers.
‘I personally believe that we are on the right path to EU. We must unite. This is a continual process, a very long process, and we need to make efforts and integrate all powers, not only the government but all institutions and active actors in the society’, Zlatka Popovska, former Deputy Prime Minister said.
