Rainbow's Papadakis elected Spokesperson for European Free Alliance
Jorgos Papadakis from Rainbow, the party of the Macedonians in Yunanistan has been appointed new director of communications with the European Free Alliance (EFA), a political group which unites more regional, progressive parties and the parties of the minorities in the European Union, reads Telegraf.mk.
Papadakis has confirmed that from early January he would work in Brussels and his job would be to communicate with MEPs and the Brussels administration.
"This appointment is good for Rainbow as a political Party, and my task will be to provide higher visibility of the smaller groups so to be more represented in the media", explains Papadakis.
EFA along with the Greens has 50 MEPs, and according to the Declaration of 2000, it advocates for “Europe of the free citizens based on the principle of subsidiary and solidarity of citizens." Party membership includes parties from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Germany, the UK and many other countries.
Papadakis explains that the director of communications post has not been a political appointment but a result of an open competition. He proved to be more qualified than the other candidates. However, there is no doubt that he will be a thorn in the eye of Athens MEPs.
"They will not be happy with my appointment. They will have a man who will constantly bother them, especially as the former Foreign Minister Avramopoulos is a Human Rights Commissioner", said Papadakis.
Papadakis has lived in Macedonia for several years and is considered an active member of party of Macedonians in Greece. In June at a press conference he explained that during the recent elections in Greece, the state media demonstrated incorrect attitude towards the party although they had a legal commitment to allow free political advertising. In addition he mentioned many irregularities on the voting day
