Dnevnik, Macedonia: Greece officially to hamper EU enlargement

Despite all statements about the enlargement of the European Union (EU) made over so many years and the Agenda 2014, which was expected to mark the 100th anniversary of the WWI, these issues do not find place among Greece’s priorities, Macedonian Dnevnik daily writes.
Boosting the economic growth, unemployment and migration issues, border management and strengthening the European securities – these are the priority issues in the programme of the Greek EU Presidency.

From Skopje to Brussels: Papadopoulos Appointed Greece’s New Ambassador to the EU

The former Greek ambassador to Skopje, Alexandra Papadopoulos has been appointed Greece’s new representative to the European Union, succeeding the post previously held by Theodoros Sotiropoulos. Papadopoulos has been performing diplomatic duties since 1981. She became an ambassador in 2006, when she filled the post of deputy permanent representative of Greece in the UN for a five-year term. From 2007 to 2012, she was the chief of the relations office of Greece in Macedonia, and in 2013 she was appointed chief of the General Foreign Affairs Directorate.

Diodorus Siculus and Herodotus recorded that it was the Egyptian Heracles who was the hero who performed the legendary 12 Labors, subdued the animals of the wild that had threatened the people, ushered in the building of cities, water systems, fortifications, and laws. Walter Burkert has estimated that this original Heracles was renowned as far back as 20,000 years ago. The Greek Heracles ended up receiving honors for the accomplishments of his predecessor, having the title of "Heracles", furthermore by the Bronze Age of Greece in which the Greek Heracles was said to have lived the taming of the wilderness had already been accomplished.
