Macedonian Friendship Group formed in Brussels, briefly attended by Golden Dawn

Twenty-six members of the European Parliament, led by Croatian MEP Marijana Petir, set up late Tuesday the Friends of Macedonia Group in the European Parliament. The group, which also functioned as part of the EP’s previous composition, will serve as a bridge of friendship between the European Parliament and Macedonia in a bid to speed up the country's EU integration process. "The group's main goal is to help Macedonia to commence the accession talks, as we believe that the country has been unfairly in the waiting room for 10 years. We consider that EU is breaching the good, regular practices when is accepts a bilateral issue to be an obstacle for launching the accession talks," Petir said, inviting all MEPs to join the group.

Macedonian Ambassador to Athens Meets Greek Deputy Foreign Minister

Macedonian Ambassador to Athens, Darko Angelov met Tuesday with Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Mardas. "The friendly discussion focused on issues of bilateral interest, highlighting the enlargement and enhancement of economic and trade relations, mainly in the fields of transport and infrastructure", the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.

Macedonia's Border Crossings with Greece Closed Due to Greek Farmers' Strike

Traffic at Medzitlija and Bogorodica border crossings with Greece will be halted on Tuesday due to a strike of Greek farmers, who will park agriculture machinery close to the border. The Auto­-Motive Union of Macedonia (AMSM) said the border crossings will be closed between 11­:00 am to 1:-- pm and 6:00pm - 8:00 pm. 

Greece: Seven Parliament Staff Members Lose Jobs over Fake Papers

Seven more parliamentary employees were removed from their positions on Friday after an investigation revealed that they had either used forged qualifications to gain their jobs or had doctored their paperwork. Four of the sacked employees worked as guards at the Parliament building. Two of them had used fake high school diplomas, while the other two had faked their grades. Another of the sacked employees had been hired in 1996 and worked as a typist, but during the probe it emerged she had used someone else's high school diploma to secure her job.
