Ioannidis: I am original Macedonian from Gevgelija

Yannis Ioannidis of Nea Democratia belongs to that "other" group of ethnic Macedonians living in Greece.

On Greek national TV Ioannidis stated he was born in Gevgelija, adding he was an original Macedonian. Moments later he contradicted himself explaining that "here" is the original Macedonia! Greek media remained silent to his statement, even the one where he claimed Greece had not managed to free Gevgelija! This sort of irredentis statements by Greek politicians are common and welcomed by both media and public.

Ioannidis' family indeed was from Gevgelija. Their last name was "Dajcev". Both of his parents didn't speak Greek. Upon their move to Solun, their last name was changed to Datsis to make it sound more Greek. However, during his basketball days he got the nickname Ioannidis which stuck to this day. 

He is considered a basketball legend in Greece, being coach of Aris in the 80's and early 90's, Olympiakos, AEK and the Greek national team.

Once he retired from basketball Ioannidis entered politics as an MP from Solun (2004). Since then he's been an MP for Nea Democratia. During his TV interview Ioannidis warned Greeks not to vote for Syriza because the left leaning party had no problems with Macedonia's name. For Ioannidis this was unacceptable.

We have said this before, we'll say it again: It's this type of "Greeks" who are the problem for normalizations of relations between Macedonia and Greece.

Griechenland: 2,5 MRD Euro Stromschulden – Versorger schaltet bald erste 50.000 Kunden ab!

In Griechenland wird der staatliche Stromversorger in Kürze damit beginnen in einem ersten Schritt 50.000 Stromkunden den Saft abzudrehen. Die Außenstände belaufen sich insg. auf 2,5 Milliarden Euro. Betroffen werden vor allem Firmenkunden sein. Eine Katastrophe für die (vorhandene?) Konjunkturerholung. Es gibt einen handfesten Grund, warum die Höhe der Stromrechnungen in den letzten Jahren explodierte… Griechenlands staatlicher Stromversorger PPC hat Außenstände bei Stromkunden von insg. 2,5 Milliarden Euro, 1,8 Milliarden davon bei gewerblichen Kunden. Schulden haben insg. 2,1 Mio Stromkunden in Griechenland. Wenn man das umlegt auf die Gesamtsumme, wären das rein rechnerisch 1.190 Euro Schulden pro Stromkunde, aber bei 1,8 von 2,5 Milliarden Schulden durch gewerbliche Kunden dürften die Privatkunden natürlich deutlich kleinere Summen offen haben. Aus Respekt gegenüber unseren südlichen Nachbarn (und natürlich mit der Bitte das sich unsere westlichen Nachbarn nicht deswegen diskriminiert fühlen), habe ich bewusst nur 99. Fakten übertragen. In dem Fall, kam der typische makedonische Trotz in mir zum Vorschein... "Was Du kannst, kann ich schon lange und natürlich besser" und damit überlasse ich nun den Fakten den Vortritt, ohne aber zu Vergessen euch darauf hinzuweisen das bald ein Thema folgen wird das das "slawische" Element im Modernen Griechenland behandeln wird. Austerity Porn: Greek Terrorists Rape Ministers' Wives in Controversial Revenge Movie

The movie, entitled The People’s Revolution Upon the Ministers' Wives, has been produced by Sirina (Siren) Productions and can be included in the genre of “politicised or austerity porn”. “2012. The dominant emotion of impoverished Greece is disappointment. With the movement of the indignant being blown off course, people are looking to find ways in order to defuse the anger they feel towards the politicians that betrayed them,” reads a note on the company’s website.
